We prioritize the health and well-being of all our birds. Whether you have an active Lovebird, a playful Parrotlet, a charming English Budgie, a delicate Gouldian Finch, or an intelligent Conure, providing the right care is essential for a happy, thriving companion.
All parrots—including Lovebirds, Parrotlets, Budgies, and Conures—require daily exercise and mental stimulation to stay happy and prevent behavioral issues. Outside-of-cage time for at least a few hours daily is highly recommended, allowing them to explore, fly, and interact with their environment.
Providing the largest cage possible ensures plenty of space for movement, enrichment, and exercise. Below are the recommended cage sizes for each species:
✅ Lovebirds & Parrotlets – Minimum 18"W x 18"D x 24"H with 3/8" bar spacing.
✅ English Budgies – Minimum 18"W x 18"D x 24"H with 1/2" bar spacing.
✅ Gouldian Finches – Flight cages are best, with a minimum 30"W x 18"D x 18"H and horizontal bars for climbing.
✅ Conures – Minimum 24"W x 24"D x 30"H with 1/2" bar spacing.
🐦 Perches: Use a variety of sizes and textures to strengthen foot muscles and prevent arthritis. Natural wood perches are highly recommended.
🐦 Toys & Enrichment: Lovebirds, Parrotlets, Budgies, and Conures love foraging toys, chewable items, and climbing structures. Finches, however, prefer swings and small hanging toys over direct interaction.
Cages should be placed in a well-lit area away from drafts, avoiding extreme temperature changes (keep below 80°F). Avoid placing food and water directly under perches to prevent contamination.
Parrotlets, Parakeets, and Green Cheek Conures all love to bathe and should be given access to filtered, chlorine-free, lukewarm water at least twice a week. You can provide a shallow dish for them to bathe in or gently mist them with water to help keep their feathers clean and healthy.
✂️ Wing Clipping – While not necessary, clipping can help prevent escape or injury if done properly. Always consult an avian veterinarian to determine what’s best for your bird.
🦶 Nail Trimming – Overgrown nails can lead to discomfort and injury. Have them trimmed by an experienced bird handler or avian vet when needed.
A well-balanced diet is crucial for long-term health and feather condition.
🥜 Pellets & Seeds – A pellet-based diet is best for Lovebirds, Parrotlets, Budgies, and Conures. Seeds should only be offered in moderation. Finches require a high-quality seed mix with added vitamins.
🌿 Fresh Fruits & Vegetables – Dark leafy greens, carrots, bell peppers, peas, and apples (avoid seeds) should be offered daily for parrots. Finches enjoy small amounts of fruits and greens as supplements.
🚫 Foods to Avoid – Never feed birds chocolate, caffeine, alcohol, avocado, onions, raw beans, or dairy, as these are toxic.
Daily fresh water is essential, and all food and water dishes should be cleaned every day to prevent bacteria buildup.
Before bringing home your new feathered friend, make sure you have the right setup for their health and happiness.
✅ Cage Size – Choose a medium or large cage to ensure plenty of space for movement.
✅ Variety of Perches – Different sizes and textures help exercise their feet and prevent arthritis.
✅ Toys & Enrichment – Birds are highly energetic and need mental stimulation to prevent boredom. Rotate toys regularly to keep them engaged.
✅ Cuttlebone & Mineral Blocks – Provide a natural source of calcium and essential minerals.
